Living Your Best Takes a Team

February 15, 2024

Think back on the course of your life. You were likely surrounded by a team from the get-go when you were born. Perhaps delivery room teams were smaller years ago than they might be today, but even still, there was a team cheering you on as you entered the world.

Fast forward to preschool. Your teachers, the volunteers, the teacher’s aides, the principal, and your bus driver were all a part of the team that helped you get an education.

Hit the fast-forward button again; anyone around your office or workplace is a part of your team. When you look forward even further, what does your team look like as you age? The faces and the players might differ, but do you still have a team?

The Benefits of Relationships

If you’re navigating without a team, it’s time to find one. We do this all our lives, which can be scary and uncertain each time, but those connections are vital as the golden years approach.

According to a longitudinal study by Harvard, having meaningful relationships is one way to reduce the effects of stress. According to this study, having close companions can also help impact longevity.

Choosing Your Team

If you need confidantes, friends, caregivers, cooks, and healthcare professionals on your team, we’ve got a welcome response: senior living. “Senior living” means a number of different living environments, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, or memory care communities.

Senior living can also be an independent apartment or a smaller home-like setting that meets your needs. When you’re living there, chances are you’ll meet people to add to your team in the form of friends, staff, and neighbors.

If you need assisted living services, you’ll find dining staff, housekeepers, caregivers, maintenance workers, and other professionals who know you’re there for a reason. The more your team gets to know you, the more they can help you when the uncertainty of aging makes you feel lonely, sad, or anxious.

Senior living combines several teams to help you live your very best life. When that includes healthcare services, your team grows and provides greater care and support.

Growing older doesn’t have to be as scary as the media makes it seem. All too often, commercials and social media highlight youth in a higher regard.

Aging is all a matter of perspective. Everyone loves turning 18 and dreads 40. Living long can be a gift. Sometimes gifts come with more instructions, but even so, we should consider being able to age a gift. Living a long life should be celebrated!

If you’re ready to step over the negative, isolating, and lonely view about aging and ready to grow your team to help you live your best life, we’re here! Reach out to us today at info@edgewoodhealthcare.com.
