Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia affect each person differently. We have carefully designed our memory care communities to include higher staffing levels to prepare for some common challenges accompanying memory loss.
Edgewood’s memory care residents live safely with the care they need in a smaller environment that helps them to feel calm. The apartments are thoughtfully designed so residents can see every area of their homes without opening doors or walking through long hallways. This helps reduce feelings of anxiety and frustration that can cause wandering or challenging behaviors.
Our smaller staff-to-resident ratio allows us to provide individualized support. Not only do we help residents live healthy and safe lives, but we also offer activities to help them find joy!
Staff are provided with dementia-specific training. They can understand the challenges associated with memory loss and use helpful ways to respond to residents who may be feeling confused or upset.
