FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Rapid City, SD) Edgewood Healthcare has recently been awarded grant funding from the South Dakota Department of Human Services to enhance the technology systems in three of Edgewood’s South Dakota communities: Pierre, Rapid City, and Spearfish. Each community will have CarePredict, a digital health platform installed to support resident well-being.
CarePredict collects activity data from watches worn by residents and staff and communicates with sensors installed throughout the senior living community. If a resident’s daily activity data indicates possible health changes or risks, such as a fall, weight loss, or urinary tract infection (UTI), staff are asked to follow up and offer proactive suggestions. Non-emergency medical appointments, such as primary care visits, when suggested early in a suspected health problem, can help residents be evaluated and treated quickly before their conditions become severe or emergencies.
CarePredict also features two-way calling for easy communication between staff and residents, fall detection, contact tracing, and keyless door entry. Additionally, CarePredict records staff data throughout the building to help identify where services are being provided and how long it takes to respond to each resident’s needs.
Using numerical data to track resident care helps eliminate discrepancies regarding what support is needed for a resident to maintain their health and wellness. Edgewood Regional Vice President Rich Ostert explained, “CarePredict is essential for our residents because it allows us to proactively monitor their well-being, ensuring they receive the care they need exactly when they need it. By understanding their daily patterns and detecting subtle changes, we can provide personalized support that enhances their quality of life and gives peace of mind to their families.”
